Finally...the big day!!

After much anticipation (and dread on Mama Bird's part) the first day of kindergarten was upon us. Jewel was so excited last night when going to bed. We read The Night Before Kindergarten and I started tearing up towards the end. How was I going to make it through Monday morning if I couldn't get through a silly story without crying. Ughhh!! Jewel's outfit was picked out a few weeks in advance. She wasn't too keen about wearing her new silver shoes, but she was a champ. We made a deal that I would keep it under 20 pictures...my fingers were crossed a little...I counted the 20 as posed pictures, but I could take all of the random ones I wanted...she just didn't have to know!! ;)

No photo session with Jewel would be complete without a silly pose. So here it is:

We finally found her class among all of the parents in the library. All of the girls in her class (and there are quite a lot of them) clustered around Ms. Mac. She is the cutest thing!! Jewel colored her a picture over the weekend to give to Ms. Mac today.

Here they are all lined up and attached to the cattle drive rope. You should have seen all the parents. If they weren't attached, they would have gotten lost!!

I am sure you will be hearing a lot about Ms. Mac as the year goes on. Thank goodness she is young and has lots of energy. She is going to need it!!

I can't wait to pick Jewel up in a little bit and hear all about her day. She requested mac n cheese and brownie sundaes for dinner. Of course Mama Bird is going to add in some fish sticks and a veggie!! Bubba and I have to get ready to brave the carpool line this afternoon. Wish me luck!!

**UPDATE** Jewel had a great first day. She can't wait to go back tomorrow and see her teacher and all of her new friends. She told me that the best part of the day was coming home to me (she sure knows how to butter me up for something!!). She liked so many things about school she couldn't pick just one. Thanks for all of your warm wishes and calls today. Jewel (and Mama Bird) felt loved.
