For our family vacation this year, we set out on a car trip through central Texas...with many stops along the way. We started our trip on July 4th in Waco with Yaya and Pappy. We met up with Scooter's brother and his family. Mama Bird finally got to meet her new nephew...and isn't he a cutie!! The picture is of the grand kids and Uncle Kev on Yaya's back porch. Lots of pool time and Pappy smoked some great ribs and chicken. To watch the fireworks later that night, Pappy took everyone out on his boat. They shoot off fireworks over the lake. It's beautiful!!Then we headed towards Austin and the Barton Creek Resort. The Texas Hill Country is gorgeous. Scooter would love to move there one day!! Mama Bird's roommate from college and her family met us for a few days. Scooter and her husband are golfing buddies. They played lots of golf while we played lots at the pool. :) The kids had a great time and loved playing with their friends Austin and Clayson.
After 4 days in Austin, we set off for San Antonio (and Sea World) in the rain. The last time we went to Sea World, Mama Bird was pregnant with Bubba. Jewel remembered a lot of our last visit, and Bubba was in awe of everything. The first time he saw Shamu jump out of the water in front of him was priceless. The rain (light drizzle) seemed to keep the crowds and heat away. We saw several shows: Shamu, Sea Otter/Walrus, Dolphins and Acrobats, and Ski Show. Jewel even fed a dolphin. She has decided that she wants to be a dolphin trainer when she grows up!!
We had so much fun on our roadtrip this summer!!
