Soccer: Game #1

Our first official soccer game was yesterday morning. Our first real game was rained out last weekend, and they have rescheduled it for next weekend. Whew!! Jewel was excited to get all of her gear on head to the soccer complex. Nana kept Bubba so Mama Bird and Scooter could focus on Jewel...which was probably a good thing. :) Jewel's team is the Lil' Lightning. There are six girls on the team, and play 3-on-3 games. The game was alot more action-packed than I would have thought.

More practice kicking into the goal. That's the ref in the bright yellow shirt. He was a high school kid who was super-patient with the girls. They didn't quite know what was going on all of the time. ;)

Jewel was very content sitting on the bench...as you can see. I think she liked it more on the bench than on the field.

Most of the first quarter she ran with the pack of girls that had the ball, but never made any contact. Here she is kicking it in after the ball went out of bounds. Jewel did much better when she played in the fourth quarter. She stole the ball from the opponent and kicked it down the field. Way to go Jewel!! We are working on listening to Coach while on the field and paying attention to the game when on the bench for next week's game.

After the game (which thankfully they don't keep score!!!) Mama Bird and Scooter took Jewel out to Mooyah Burgers and then for frozen yogurt (Jewel's fave). She enjoyed having mom and dad all to herself.
