One Saturday in November (yes, I know I am WAY behind), Jewel and her BFF took a cooking class at the club. They had the best time. When I picked them up, they were wearing this hat and a long, white apron like the professionals wear. It was too cute. They made homemade chicken pot pies and decorated holiday cookies. Jewel was able to enjoy the fruits of her labor for lunch. I never figured she would be a potpie lover! Thankfully there was a little bit left, so Mama Bird got to eat the leftovers. Yum!! I need to get the recipe.

While Jewel was cooking, so were BB and Mama Bird. I had been wanting to try to make homemade cinnamon rolls for a long time. I finally found a recipe with step-by-step tutorial (with pictures) and enlisted the help of my sister. I figured that at least we would have fun, even if they didn't turn out! Mama Bird was hoping to start a new tradition of making homemade rolls for Christmas morning, so we needed a little test run.

It was a lot of work...and even more clean up...but they turned out pretty well for our first effort. The recipe made seven, yes SEVEN pans of rolls. We tried them the week of Thanksgiving, so we were able to get rid of most to family without having to eat them for days. ;) The maple icing was the best part. Thanks Uncle D for the Maplene!!
