Farewell to Preschool

Jewel's preschool had a graduation party and program the last weekend of May. Each class performed a song or something semi-entertaining for the parents. Jewel's class sang, "We Are The World" and they asked that each child dress up from a country. We had Scotland.....which I guess could have been worse. So off to Wal-Mart we went in search of tartan plaid. No tartan plaid, but we found something close. I DO NOT SEW. I repeat, I DO NOT SEW, so I cut the fabric in half and safety pinned the skirt together for a kilt and then draped the extra fabric as some sort of Celtic sash tied together with a ribbon. Not my best work, but definitely not the worst costume there. Thank goodness!! As always, Jewel had to add her own special touch...triple strand pearl bracelet. She said it made the outfit. She was right!!

In order to keep Bubba quiet throughout the hour-long ordeal, he ate his way through a large bag of goldfish, cheerios and raisins. He was very content until the food ran out. Thankfully the program was just about over.

This is Jewel on her very last day of preschool. She was a little quieter than normal on the way to school. She is going to miss all of her friends and teachers. Look out kindergarten teachers!! She is ready for August. That day will be bittersweet for Mama Bird.
